The Forest Stewards Guild is hiring a Forestry Technician

The Forest Stewards Guild is pleased to announce that it is now hiring a full-time, temporary Forestry Technician for the Cibola NF - Zuni Mountains. If you enjoy working outdoors and want to learn more about forestry and ecological restoration, this position may be a good fit for you. As a Forestry Technician, you will work on a small marking crew with Mt. Taylor RD timber staff to:

  • Mark timber according to ecological restoration prescriptions for forest and woodland habitats; 

  • Measure timber characteristics including diameter and height using diameter tape and laser, and assess tree condition to determine suitability for marking; and

  • Conduct forest monitoring to track treatment (thinning and burning) effectiveness and ecosystem change.

Here are a few key details about the position:

  • It is based out of Grants, NM.

  • The pay is $17.76 / hour.

  • The position runs for 7 weeks from October 2 - November 16.

  • The work week is 40 hours, Monday through Thursday (7:00am - 5:30pm).
