Zuni Mountains Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) on-track to receive another 10 years of funding
In 2011, the Zuni Mountains CFLRP became one of the first projects of its kind to receive funding for a decade of collaborative ecological and landscape-scale restoration and resilience work. Fast forward to January 2022, the Zuni Mountains Collaborative learned that they are in line to receive an additional 10 years of funding through a project extension request submitted in 2021.
What’s New:
The Secretary of Agriculture has approved CFLRP extensions based on the recommendations from the Federal Advisory Committee. Furthermore, the Secretary combined previously-approved projects as well as just-approved extensions into one prioritized national list. Zuni Mountains CFLRP is still the top-ranked extension and is the 4th ranked project overall, following the Secretary’s approval.
Once funding is available, through Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations and/or Infrastructure Law funding, CFLRP projects will be funded in the order listed. The number of CFLRP projects that can be funded from this list depends on the amount of funding available. Extensions must continue to meet CFLRP eligibility requirements.
What’s Next:
While this does not yet mean that funding has been allocated for the Extension Request, it does mean that the process is moving in the right direction. The USDA Forest Service will make a public announcement of which CFLRP projects have been funded once money is available.
